So when Skinny Mommy started promoting a 20 Minute Yoga DVD series, I have to admit I was a bit skeptical myself. But, as excercise has become like a long-lost friend (someone you think about, miss, but rarely see), I decided I had no choice but to give it a try. Balancing my full time job, my house, and my kids means I have just about 20 minutes to myself.
I am seriously pleasantly surprised! After three 20 minute yoga sessions this week, I can barely raise my arms over my head and I am shuffling around like a grandpa because I am so sore. Yay!
Here's what else makes me so happy about 20 Minute Yoga:
- It is effective and you get warm, but not sweaty. (This means no need to add extra shower time.)
- I can do it in my living room. (Meaning no need to look halfway decent and no extra driving time.)
- Since I don't get sweaty, I can do the DVD anytime during my day by simply changing from my jeans to my yoga pants. (This means the 20 minutes before work or when the kids are napping on the weekends)
- It gives me an opportunity to shut off the noise in my head and breathe. Ah...
- It's approachable. Anyone can do it. Even someone who has never done any yoga.
- I can't deny I am also a little excited about looking more toned during bathing suit season.
- With 6 different 20 minutes sessions, I won't get bored.
20 Minute Yoga? I am SOLD!
I've always wanted to try yoga but haven't quite gotten there yet. Maybe I can start with 20 minutes a day like you. It seems like a reasonable amount of time to take each day. No extra shower time sounds great too!
